partitive construction (cxn)
a.k.a.
an anchoring construction that has a piece noun as the head referent and an anchor as the modifier. Example: a piece of the cake is a partitive construction in that the object modifier of the cake is a particular individual and hence functions as an anchor. (Section 5.2.2)
